Say you own a washing machine that connects to the internet — you can remotely start, schedule, and receive end-of-cycle alerts from your phone. One day, after dinner, you load the machine and schedule a wash cycle to run before you wake up the following morning. As you walk away, the machine runs a system check and you receive a push notification: fail code F10.
Turns out, the water inlet is blocked, and it’s an easy fix. You open the brand’s mobile app, tap “Continue” and follow a series of instructions specific to your model and how it’s installed. 10 minutes later, you’re on the couch watching Netflix feeling pleased that a future machine malfunction was easily avoided.
With Mavenoid, this is the level of proactive support brands can provide their customers. Husqvarna, known for innovation, is currently using Mavenoid’s IoT integration to self-service autonomous lawn mowers after error codes are identified in their cloud system.
Enabling Mavenoid for IoT devices includes three primary steps:
- Mavenoid connects to a brand’s IoT cloud through an API. This provides a way for Mavenoid and the brand to communicate with each other to match error codes and resolutions to customers’ devices.
- Mavenoid learns a brand’s error codes and troubleshooting steps. Each error code is categorized (for example, is it a hardware or software error?) and linked to solutions within the brand’s product documentation. This is the source content identified by Mavenoid’s AI and shared in personalized step-by-step troubleshooting instructions.
- Mavenoid is embedded within the brand’s mobile app or other communication channels. Users are guided through self-service steps with text, images, and videos, in our Virtual Assistant or on a webpage linked from an email or text message sent from the brand.
By the end of 2024, over 200bn devices will be connected to the worldwide network of tools, toys, devices, and appliances that make up the Internet of Things. While we’re excited about applying our mission — removing the avoidable frustration from product ownership — to this growing category of products and devices, we also recognize the opportunity to help brands expand their product experience.
With Mavenoid’s IoT integration, brands can connect sensor data to revenue opportunities that are otherwise out of sight and out of mind. A brand selling air purifiers can now not only show users when it’s time to replace their filter, but also guide them through a replacement order with Mavenoid. The same process works for printer ink, vacuum bags, and any other home or office device with consumable components.
